Backbone consists of 2,001 acres and is heavily wooded with a variety of tree species, predominantly oak and maple. It was Iowa's first state park and remains one of the most geologically unique. I had emailed them a list of questions and they promptly responded.Backbone State Park was dedicated in 1920. This was our first trip to HMT and now we have a new standard to live up to in lodging.

I would like to see a small shelf of board games or cards or checkers etc. We had a 2 bedroom cabin You need to bring a pitcher, if you want to make Koolaid or lemonade. I don't know how comfortable the pull out bed was as we did not use it. And a broom to sweep up the mud tracked in. I liked that there was a boot brush on the porch. But I understand when you are trying to get your winter gear on, you don't wanna sink into the couch and also come back covered in mud, you need somewhere to strip down and sit on. Extra blankets, pillows stored under the bed in a plastic zippered bag? No extra pillows or blankets found The couch was stiff.
